Notes:
Summary: Wetlands are good for the environment, because the can be serve as reproductive or feeding sites for some species. Wetlands are a body of water near the surface for a short anount of time. They usually occur in cold climates and low evaporations and they are sensitive to the water-level changes. Wetlands can be found in salt marches, rivers, meadows, and etc. Presence of plants adapt to flooding that later develops colors and odors that distinguish it from the land. The coastal werlands are stronger since the levels depend on the tides.
Reflection: While reading this article I learned that wetlands are an important resource in the ecosystem, because they provide shelter, reproductive, and feeding sites for species that are connected with other waterways. They are very helpful for us because they can reduce the amount of pollution and damages of waves caused by human activity. But we only give so little attention to them and so they keep disappearing. Instead of worrying about our lifestyle and how we don't have much money to buy a $1000 MK bag or designer's bag we should focus on worrying about our lifestyle if the natiral resources are gone!
- Wetlands are good for the environment
- Wetlands- water is near the surface for a short amount of time.
- Presence of plants adapted to flooding that develops colors and odors.
- Wetlands are found in salt marshes, swamps, rivers, streams, meadows, potholes, bogs, and many more.
- Wetlands occur in cold climates and low evaporation.
- The wetlands along rivers, coastline, and those that formed in depression in the landscape are long lasting because of events that people consider economically devastating.
- Wetlands sensitivity to the effects of water-level changes.
- Wetland surrounded by saturated soil environments that possess some elements of a terrestrial system and some of an aquatic system.
- Wetlands sensitivity to the effects of water-level changes.
- Coastal wetlands are also somewhat more resilient since levels depend on the tides.
- Wetlands can serve as reproductive or feeding sites for some species only if they are connected with other waterways
