Summary: Have you ever wondered how toxic is your lipstick? Well about 400 shades of popular lipsticks contain lead. According to the FDA, about 5 lipsticks from the companies L'Oreal and Maybelline made it to the rank of "10 most contaminated of the cosmetics". An awareness has been raised by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics to the government to put a limit or lead levels in lipsticks. But the the FDA has been insisting that the levels of lead in lipsticks aren't that problematic, the Campaign disagree with this conclusion and they want the government to take action. In 2007, the Campaign for Safety Cosmetics found two-thirds of lead in 33 red lipsticks and one-third for limited the FDA's lead in candy. The agency says that comparing the lead in candy and lipstick is unfair, since you're consuming a big chunk of candy and a small portion of lipstick. Reflection: After reading this article I wasn't really surprise that there was a big usage of lead in lipsticks. But what really surprised me was that there's LEAD in CANDY! Like what?!?!?! I thought eating lead was bad for our body, but we are consuming it by eating candy? That really doesn't make any sense. The worst part is that the FDA is saying it isn't problematic.
